The first season of 2021 follows the disappearance of a beautiful and popular Texas high school student (Olivia Holt) in the early 1990s, and the disappearance of a classmate (Chiara Aurelia) who may or may not have concealed her whereabouts. The follow-up flashed things to the last year before the millennium, when Megan Landry (Sadie Stanley), a grade A student computer genius, lived in a seaside town in the Pacific Northwest. Dealing with your usual teenage anxiety: secretly infatuated with her best friend Luke Chambers (Griffin Gluck), forever annoyed by her mother's presence, and immediately feels inferior to the mysterious town magnetic new girl Isabella LaRue (Lexi Underwood), a secular exchange student who is invited to live with Megan's family for a year.
